From seeking support to sharing hope. When Dan last attended a BDD conference, he was in a very different place – struggling with BDD and searching for support and understanding. This year, he’s sharing his own journey through recovery. Dan’s talk will be an honest reflection on how tough BDD can be, the challenges along the way, and the hope, motivation and possibilities that can come with recovery. We’re incredibly grateful to Dan for sharing his story, and we hope it offers encouragement to anyone who needs it right now.
Dan’s Bio:
Hello, I’m Dan. I’ve been involved with the BDD Foundation since attending the conference in 2019 as someone seeking support, community and understanding. I now use my experiences of BDD-related recovery as a Facilitator on the Overcoming BDD Programme with the Foundation. I’ve also offered my story to the ‘Beating BDD podcast’. Outside of the BDD sphere, I work in Community Mental Health Services in the NHS. And I enjoy using my free time to re-engage with interests that previously felt ‘lost’: mainly being active and watching/playing sports. I truly appreciate the significance of attending today’s conference. And look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. It is such a brave step to take in your recovery.
